Elder Abuse is broadly defined as any act within a relationship of trust that causes harm or distress to an older person. It can be intentional or unintentional and typically involves family members, friends, or paid caregivers.
The Australian framework recognizes the following primary types of elder abuse:
Financial Abuse
Psychological and Emotional Abuse
Social Abuse
Neglect
Physical Abuse
Sexual Abuse
Cultural or Spiritual Abuse
